ASIS is Australia's overseas secret intelligence collection agency. Its mission is to protect and promote
Australia's vital interests through the provision of intelligence services as directed by the Government.

These positions are Canberra based, with conditions of service similar to those in the Australian Public
Service, including superannuation.
THE OPPORTUNITIES
Level 5
As a level 5 facilities management officer, you will be part of a team managing and maintaining building,
property and facility services for all ASIS locations. You will contribute to complex work, managing and
delivering infrastructure projects and undertaking maintenance activities under limited direction from
senior staff. You will exercise discretion and sound independent judgment in providing advice to
stakeholders on building, property and facility services. You assist in organising workflow and making
decisions relating to the planning, development and delivery of property management, maintenance
programs and all other building, property and facility services, based on policies and legislation.
Level 6
As a level 6 facilities management officer, you will plan, manage and deliver infrastructure projects and
undertake maintenance activities. You will be part of a team managing and maintaining building,
property and facility services for all ASIS locations. You will be responsible for the delivery of complex
infrastructure projects and maintenance works in line with agreed outcomes. You will manage and guide
others and exercise autonomy in planning, managing, delivering and evaluating maintenance projects
and activities. You will exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the
technical, professional and/or policy advice in relation to complex problems and may assist in strategic
planning, program and project management and policy development. This role may have team leader
and/or resource management responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
The following is an overview of key responsibilities and tasks:
Work under limited supervision as part of a facilities specialist team contributing to the planning,
development and/or delivery of property management and/or maintenance programs (or
activities) for ASIS across all physical locations both domestic and overseas.
As part of a team, make effective use of individual and team capabilities to provide a specialist
service focused on operational outcomes.
Contribute to compliance, including risk management and mitigation.
Contribute to reporting for key internal and external stakeholders and assist in formal reporting
as required.
Responsible for the delivery of complex infrastructure projects and maintenance work in line
with agreed outcomes.
Develop plans and objectives for short-term tasks of the work area and contribute to strategic
planning for longer term initiatives.
Monitor and maintain deliverables and timeframes of project, policy or planning activities and
evaluate the outcome of the project, policy or plan to ensure it meets requirements.
Provide professional advice and recommendations on issues relevant to your team and/or
branch and advise on written policies and procedures.

exposure to team members, coaching, mentoring, on the job experience and relevant training.
Maintain a well-developed understanding of industry best practice, policies, and procedures and
ensure all action taken and advice given is aligned.
Pursue, develop and maintain effective internal client/customer relationships and collaborate
with operational and corporate branches and teams to provide quality and timely support and
develop and implement relevant facilities management solutions.
