Curtin's School of Nursing is the longest established school of nursing in the Australian university sector.

From the time it opened 47 years ago, the school has been a key part of the University's drive to be a leader in health sciences education and research.

The school delivers a range of undergraduate courses in nursing, oral health therapy and paramedicine; and specialist postgraduate courses in areas that include diabetes and critical care, child health and midwifery.


At Curtin University, we are proud to be the only University in Australia to offer an Oral Health Therapy degree.


We currently have an opportunity for two or more Oral Health Therapists (or dual qualified dental therapist/dental hygienist) with adult restorative scope of practice who are registered with AHPRA to join us as an Associate Lecturer.

These roles will be based at the Oral Health Care of Western Australia (OCHWA) in Nedlands and our Curtin Bentley campus.

In our dental teaching and learning facility, based at OHCWA we offer a full range of preventative and restorative oral health therapy services to the Western Australian community.

In this role you will:


  • Provide supervision and guidance to students during patient treatments in the Oral Health Therapy Clinic.
  • Conduct simulation activities and provide handson teaching to students, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of clinical procedures.
  • Develop and deliver lectures, workshops, and training sessions on various oral health topics to enhance student knowledge and skills.
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their professional growth.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting teamwork, professionalism, and ethical behaviour among students.
  • Engage in scholarly activities such as research, publication, and presentations to contribute to the field of oral health therapy.

  • Undergraduate Degree and/or substantial progress towards the completion of a Masters degree (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
  • Registered with AHPRA (or the equivalent Australian health professional regulatory authority).
  • High level teaching skill and a reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  • Proven experience in clinical practice as an Oral Health Therapist.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and patients.
