Legal Assistant, Trial Division
Full Time, Fixed Term - Up to 12 months

The Legal Assistant works closely and collaboratively with the Trial Division Manager, Managing Principal Solicitors, Legal Support Officers, and solicitors to provide high level legal and administrative support across the Trial Division.

As a Legal Assistant, you will provide guidance to the Legal Support Officers in your Trial Division and liaise with other Legal Assistants to drive consistency and innovative processes.

You will also aid with training and presentations to Legal Support Officers and other staff about Legal Support across the Trial Divisions.

The Legal Assistant will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with others to ensure that the Office's operational requirements are met.

The incumbent will liaise closely with the Trial Division Administration Team Leaders.


About the Role:


  • Establish, implement, and monitor effective, efficient, and consistent administrative processes, standards and practices including the adoption of new technologies and innovative practices within the Trial Division.
  • Provide legal support to solicitors within the Trial Divisions, assisting with case management, closing out files in the case management systems and liaising with external stakeholders such as victims, police, and other agencies.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor effective, efficient, and consistent administrative processes, standards and practices including the adoption of new technologies and innovative practices within the Trial Division.
  • Demonstrated competence in the provision of administrative support to professional staff in a complex, confidential, and sensitive environment.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word and Excel, PDF Docs and Adobe, and computerised case management systems.
