This is an exciting opportunity for a experienced and driven Lecturer to join our energetic team in Macquarie Business School.


  • Salary Package: Lecturer (Level B), from $115,787 to $136,995 p.a. plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading
  • Appointment Type: Fulltime, continuing
  • Location: Macquarie University (North Ryde)

THE ROLE


Macquarie University's growing discipline of Business Analytics seeks a Lecturer with scholarly expertise in business analytics, applied data science, and information systems.


To be successful in the role you will make a strong contribution to research and to teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

You may also proactively contribute to the efforts of the Department to enhance its reputation with external audiences.

Macquarie Business School offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs and employs casual academic staff to support the teaching of these programs.

Each year, there are employment opportunities for casual academic staff to participate in the delivery of programs. Teaching roles will be undertaken under the supervision of full time academic staff.

The Department of Actuarial Studies and Business Analytics is home to the discipline of business analytics and information systems and a leading provider of business analytics education in the Australasian region.

The Department has been one of the first in Australia to offer a bachelor's in Business Analytics since 2015. The Department offered Master of Business Analytics in 2020, which is currently ranked #2 in Australia and #71-80 worldwide as per

2023 QS Ranking

  • In addition to courses in business analytics, the Department also offers programs in cyber security governance and business information systems. In the latest QS 2024 Subject Rankings, Macquarie is also ranked 48th globally in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and fifth in Australia.

  • A statement addressing the relevant selection criteria below; and
  • A current curriculum vitae (CV);
Selection Criteria

Level B - Lecturer

  • A PhD (completed or near completion) in business analytics, information systems, applied data science, or a related field;
  • A record of quality research publications in business analytics, data science or a related field in FT50, UTD24 100, and/or in A* and A rank journals as per ABDC journal list;
  • Engagement, or a plan for engagement, with the wider community in order to further enhance teaching and or research outcomes;
  • A record of highquality teaching in business analytics and data science;
  • Experience with Python or other programming languages
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database management
  • Experience with data visualization tools and platforms (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc.)
  • Evidence of work as a team player in the delivery of administrative tasks related to teaching and research;
