About the Role

The Corporate Communications Officer is responsible for providing support for the delivery and implementation of the internal communications strategy, supporting organisational initiatives and driving internal engagement.

The successful applicant will also maintain the organisation's intranet and support authors across the organisation to develop and update content for their business areas.

Essential to this role is writing clear, high-quality communications for staff, CEO, leadership, Mayor and Councillors.

Providing support with content for channels, including monthly Mayoral videos, forewords, speeches, and other materials to support the objectives of Council is a regular feature of this role.

Provide a point of liaison for media and the management of proactive and reactive media relations.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop internal communications strategies
  • Maintain Darebin's intranet to keep internal audiences informed and connected
  • Produce a range of internal enewsletters to share regular updates across the organisation
  • Liaise with media and manage proactive and reactive media opportunities
  • Create monthly Mayoral videos, forewords, speeches, and other materials

Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience in planning and delivering highquality communications through a variety of channels on time, within budget and with highlevel attention to detail.
  • Proven expertise in delivering communications and media materials for media events.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver compelling internal communications campaigns spanning digital platforms, print and visual assets which help connect colleagues through shared organisational goals and values.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to prepare materials such as communication strategies, media releases, speeches, forewords and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
  • Ability to work within a complex, politically sensitive environment to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to build relationships, gather information, build consensus and gain support.
