Screen Australia's Strategic Policy and Industry Insights (SPII) team collects data and information on screen production and consumption in Australia; and undertakes rigorous analysis to highlight industry trends and the effect of programs and policies on the sector.

In addition to assisting the senior executive to develop policy positions and engage with policy makers, this robust evidence and keen insight informs Screen Australia's internal strategy development function and the sector.

About the role


We are currently seeking an experienced professional to develop, plan and deliver on policy and strategic initiatives aligned to Screen Australia's corporate objectives.

Working closely with the Senior Manager, (SPII) and the Chief Operating Officer, this role will devise policy positions and strategic documents that align with Screen Australia's priorities, including drafting policy briefs, backgrounders, speeches, submissions and correspondence as required.

The role is part of a larger, robust team of Analysts and Researchers, and is supported by a Policy Analyst.

This opportunity is offered as an initial 2-year contract and will be based in our Sydney office.

About you

Tertiary qualifications in Policy, Law or Communications or extensive relevant work experience

Demonstrated high level of analytical and problem-solving abilities with ability to generate appropriate and solutions.


Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise and well-presented policy and strategy documents and research findings.

Ability to manage competing demands and concurrent projects in a fast-past environment.

Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills as well as experience with survey tools.


Exceptional interpersonal skills that demonstrate the ability to represent Screen Australia to industry with diplomacy, sensitivity, confidentiality and tact as required.


Ability to supervise a small team and work as part of a larger team supporting other team members with duties as required.
