The position of Inventory Technical Officer will lead the inventory management of rare patient biospecimens and delivery of these biospecimens to internal and external stakeholders in consultation with the Tumour Bank Co Ordinator.

The Inventory Technical Officer will service existing and prospective research commitments engaged with the Tumour Bank. This role will require commitment to working Tuesday to Saturday each week.


As our Inventory Technical Officer your purpose will be to:

  • Drive and promote best practices for the accurate storage and development of efficient workflows to access and retrieve patient biospecimens for research purposes.
  • Accurately record information on all patients and biospecimens received including consents, research and clinically relevant information.
  • Ensure patient samples are processed according to the regulatory requirements for handling of human samples and according to Institute protocols.
  • Deliver efficient maintenance and distribution of patient biospecimens and redacted clinical information for internal and external research projects.
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure that patient biospecimens and data are stored to the highest standards.
  • Take responsibility for complying with privacy legislation, ethics guidelines and the legal requirements for research involving human material.

To succeed you will have

  • Tertiary qualifications in related discipline or relevant experience (Science, logistics).
  • Inventory Management experience, including experience in inventory management systems.
  • Experience working in a laboratory 2 years minimum.
  • Strong IT skills particularly around data analysis.
  • The ability to multitask, use initiative and be selfmotivated.
  • Excellent communication skills
