The Satellite Data Assimilation Team Leader will lead a team in the Research Program aimed at advancing the utilisation of satellite information to improve numerical environmental and weather prediction model performance, ensuring an increase in the volume of information ingested and support development of methods to improve the use of satellite imagery.

The Satellite Data Assimilation Team Leader will define and drive the implementation of the Research Program's main aims and deliver:

A clear alignment with the Research Program's body of work with the four outcomes of the Bureau's Research and Development Plan
An increased capability to respond to growing Information Technology demands and needs;
An alignment of the research program capability with the newly created Research to Operations Program within the Science and Innovation Group; and
Several projects in development that will set and prioritise the investments necessary to achieve the four objectives of the Research and Development Plan.

The Team Leader will also provide clarity on responsibilities across the Research Program when it comes to engagement with internal and external partners.
