Scope
Reporting to the Plant Director, the Production Shortage Supervisor will be responsible for the coordination and support of production activities by ensuring materials availability for production and ensuring DIFOT targets are met.
The role will engage in expediting and improvement of material availability prior to production commencement, and a high regard for safety, quality and meeting deadlines are critical in this position.
Responsibilities
- Determine material and component requirements based on the MRP system and ensure availability to support production schedules.
- Convert master production schedule (MPS) plan to daily production schedule.
- Ensuring vendor, Inventory & BOM master files are controlled, maintained, and followed in the company MRP system
- Coordinating among warehouse, purchasing, inventory, suppliers, production and engineering to resolve supply issues for production.
- Develop and implement production tracking and control systems, analysing production bottleneck, help detect and resolve production flow problems.
- Monitor production status and identify delays and adjust schedules accordingly to meet deadlines.
- Advise management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed
- Identify major risks in the production plan based on material supplies and roughcut capacity thresholds.
- Review and adjust Kanban levels according to MRP reports, ensuring appropriate inventory management practices and costeffective operations.
- Create and maintain logistics support programs and identify and resolve supply problems
- Liaise and coordinate with other departments to meet the production schedules, including supply chain, production, purchasing and sales team.
- Support and assist in the company's annual stock take
- Be a key team member in planning, implementation, and support of a new ERP system.
- Management of WIP, stock levels and fulfilments to support production volumes.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Knowledge of electromechanical manufacturing and planning processes
- Ability to manage the communication to key departments regarding supply plans, demand changes and supplier constraints impacting targeted plan and inventory goals.
- Knowledge with MRP/ERP Systems such as NetSuite, NetStock, SAP, ORACLE etc.
- Perform "What If' scenarios & RCCP to determine the impact (material & resources) of a change to the
- APICS certification and "class A" / Operational Excellence understanding.
- Experienced in production planning and optimising inventory levels stock availability.
- Good understanding of inventory management concepts & processes.
- Excellent communication, ability to work collaboratively, build relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem solver.
