The Moneycare Intake Worker undertakes triage and assessment services across The Salvation Army's helpline services - they are the first point of client/agency contact and refer clients to numerous community-based services essential to supporting the individual client needs


The Helpline services provided by The Salvation Army include: The National Debt Helpline; Moneycare Intake Helpline; and Affordable SA Helpline.

The Helpline services provide information, support and advocacy to help people deal with immediate financial problems and minimise the risk of future hardship.


ABOUT THE ROLE


This position supports individuals and families to navigate financial crisis and build financial wellbeing, capability and resilience by providing accurate information, triage/assessment that result in appropriate referrals to relevant community support services, including financial counselling.

This is a part-time position, 30 hours per week fixed term.


Other responsibilities:

  • All phone calls answered within TSA guidelines and targets
  • Outbound calls are conducted in accordance with guidelines and directions
  • Effective respectful relationships are established and maintained with networks, government, nongovernment agencies and clients that maintain professional boundaries
  • Client interviews/assessments are conducted in a nondiscriminatory manner using appropriate information gathering techniques
  • Assessments/triage follow TSA Helpline procedures to determine service access, including assessing urgency & if phone appointment can service client needs
  • Accurate, up to date client records and data is maintained for all clients in accordance with TSA standards and procedures using TSA information systems

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Certificate 3 in Community Services or relevant field and/or Certificate 4 Telephony Counselling or willingness to obtain qualification.
  • Must be a member of SAFCA expected to work towards and maintain membership
  • Knowledge of lifestyle pressures faced by disadvantaged people in the community
  • Knowledge of family dynamics, special needs and problems facing lowincome earners
  • Understands and implements appropriate procedures and strategies to deal with crisis situations
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
