About this opportunity
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Fitter is a key member of the Site based team.
The Fitter will provide hands on support on all aspects of maintenance and upkeep of all manufacturing assets, the maintenance budget, managing contractors and helping execute strategies to enhance the performance of the maintenance function and related assets.
The Fitter will contribute towards the sites reliability, maximizing asset utilization whilst ensuring that all equipment is maintained to comply with all statutory requirements and the highest possible WHSE standards.
Day to day management of the machinery, preventative maintenance, breakdown maintenance and problem solving will be the main duties performed to keep the operation working effectively.
The Fitter will build and maintain a collaborative relationship between maintenance and production, ensuring effective support to the Area Managers and their teams in executing safety, quality and operational improvements.
This role will require adequate planning and consideration to an inventory of spare parts and future repairs.
Your key responsibilities will be to
- Work closely with Maintenance and Quality teams to troubleshoot issues and maintain plant production capability
- Perform Root Cause Analysis on all critical failures of plant and ensure action items derived are implemented and sustained
- Actively support the implementation of capital projects
- Demonstrate genuine safetyfirst leadership, leading by example
- Foster continuous improvement to ensure compliance with policy, guidelines and better practice frameworks
- Ensuring adherence to WHSE standards from installation, commissioning and ongoing operations
- Implement and manage continuous improvement principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, workplace practices and processes
- Ensuring reliability and maintainability of all equipment is at or above target levels
- Plan and manage all maintenance work effectively with production, ensuring mínimal disruption and downtime as possible
- Conduct route cause analysis and investigations of safety incidents, environmental incidents, and breakdowns. Provide reports and recommendations on key learnings to Site Manager as required
- Assess critical assets on an ongoing basis and implement defined actions to mitigate or minimise business risk
- Planning and executing shutdowns

Qualifications

Education & Qualifications_**- Mechanical trade qualifications
- Restricted or full electrical license desirable but not essential
- 510 years in a similar position
- Experience in hydraulic and pneumatic plant and equipment
- Superior communication skills. (from shop floor to leadership team)
- Demonstrated ability in managing a preventative maintenance schedule
- Proven ability to problem solve for emergency maintenance and repair

- Experience with, or in, complex industrial companies/industries
- Australia / New Zealand experience
