About the role
This successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Fulfil the accountabilities of this role in accordance with MNOHS purpose and objectives.
  • Work collaboratively within a team of Dental Assistants, providing a high level of clinical, crossinfection and administrative assistance, and contribute to the effective education of students.
  • Undertake other workrelated duties within the expected range of responsibility and competence for the position.
  • Sterilisation of dental instruments and equipment including hand pieces, burs and other specialised equipment.
  • Liaise with senior staff as required for professional advice and development.
  • Ensure that patient treatment occurs in accordance with Infection Control policies relevant to the clinical environment.
  • Ensure safe disposal of hazardous or toxic waste material.
  • Ability to conduct routine general cleaning of surfaces and equipment to ensure a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Display integrity, discretion and tact in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters concerning patients, students and staff.
  • Maintain awareness of new developments and dental techniques, and where appropriate, participate in continuing education programs.

Desirable qualifications
MNOHS recognises and acknowledges the value and knowledge gained through further education training.

  • Possession of Certificate III in Sterilising or equivalent
  • Possession of Certificate IV in Dental Assisting (Oral Health Education) or equivalent
  • Possession of Certificate IV in Dental Radiography
  • Possession of a Certificate or Diploma in Frontline Management
  • Possession of Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
