The Retail Employees Superannuation Trust (Rest) was established in 1988 and is one of Australia's third largest superannuation funds in Australia by membership, with over 1.8 million members and more than $65 billion in funds under management.

Rest is the second largest industry fund by membership.

Responsible for providing detailed macroeconomic research and take responsibility for long-term asset allocation decisions across all investment options. You will lead the annual strategic asset allocation process and undertake modelling to support multi-asset portfolio positioning.

You will act as an internal resource to provide insights across asset class teams and support the development of a total portfolio approach to investing.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake thematic and economic research to support the longterm investment strategy across all investment options.
  • Lead the development of internal macroeconomic forecasts and capital market assumptions.
  • Make strategic asset allocation recommendations for all investment options and contribute to the development of fee and active risk budgets.
  • Undertake modelling and research to contribute to tactical asset allocation investment decisions.
  • Support investment decision making across asset class teams by acting as an internal economic advisor.
  • Provide analysis and commentary to support investment communications to members, colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the integration of environmental, social and governance considerations into topdown investment decisions.
Contribute to the enhancement of good governance and common methodologies in portfolio construction across all investment options.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate degree in Finance / Economics or Actuarial studies or equivalent and proven experience
  • Member of reputable CFA, CAIA or similar industry qualifications highly desirable

Required experience, understanding or credentials
including:


  • Demonstrated experience working in investment management, financial services or superannuation industry
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and developing capabilities with financial software and tools
  • Bloomberg, Factset, Python or similar
  • Understanding of investment compliance and risk management frameworks as it relates to portfolio risks
  • Able to clearly communicate and make recommendations on portfolio positioning and risk
