The Tax Advisor provides tax guidance and advice to internal clients (Investment teams and corporate functions) to enable them to undertake their functions in a tax effective and timely manner and in compliance with tax risk guidelines and policies.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assist with the base preparation of tax compliance activities.
  • Provide tax compliance advice to internal clients (mainly Investment Finance and Corporate Finance functions) to ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws, regulations and policies.
  • Provide advice to internal clients in relation to less complex matters, (with oversight) to ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws, regulations and policies.
  • Review BASs produced by Fund Finance and Corporate Finance and provide GSTrelated assistance as required.
  • Prepare and provide tax technical training to inhouse Finance teams.
  • Undertake research on more complex matters, to assist more senior team members.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the enterprise tax strategy, and ensure it complies with relevant local and international tax laws and regulations.

Technical Skills & Qualifications:


  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Accounting or Law are a must.
  • A minimum of 3+ years practicing experience.
  • Chartered Accountants/CPA qualified or postgraduate Tax qualification such as the Masters of Tax or Chartered Tax Ad Highly favoured.
  • Tax advisory experience within the Corporate Tax division of a 'Big 4' or second tier accounting firm.
  • Advisory experience in Corporate Tax and in the structuring of direct and indirect investments in both the listed and unlisted investments asset classes both domestically and internationally.
  • Sound problem solving and evaluation skills to identify issues, analyse options and prepare assessments to determine appropriate courses of action, relevant to achieve positive outcomes and organisational goals.
  • Thorough technical knowledge and experience in tax structuring, tax planning, taxation accounting and relevant statutory and regulatory requirements and processes as well as solid knowledge of the financial services or funds management industry.
  • Commercial focus, emphasising strong analytical skills and understanding of business drivers, with keen time management and organisation skills.
  • Experience in establishing strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders across an organisation and the capacity for negotiation with the ability to influence and convince stakeholders.
  • Intermediate technical skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
