Environment Protection Authority Overview

The EPA is an independent statutory authority which sits within the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment.


The Opportunity


The Lead, Environment Protection Planning leads major policy development and program implementation, seeks to influence whole-of-government and national policy formation, provides strategic policy advice and leads policy and program evaluations to promote and achieve reduced environmental impacts, and improved environmental management, through the strategic land use planning system.

This role also drives and manages complex and contentious statutory planning processes and responses for the EPA, progresses any necessary policy and practice improvements, and ensures the EPA's regulatory priorities are supported by statutory land use planning systems and processes.

You will have 3 direct reports within a team of 14.


About you

  • To be successful you will have extensive experience in the development, implementation and review of strategic environmental policy and regulatory reform and a record of achievement in the development, implementation and delivery of strategic regulatory, compliance and governance programs, plans and initiatives.
  • Extensive experience in the provision of highlevel advice related to environmental policy, programs, issues and reforms as they relate to strategic and statutory planning.
  • Experience in managing statutory planning matters and improving land use planning regulatory processes and systems.
  • Experience in the successful implementation of government directives, initiatives, policies and programs.
  • Experience in understanding and coordinating complex technical assessments involving air, water, noise and land.
