The Role

There's no more exciting Government Department to work for than Defence The beauty of our Commercial Advisor roles is the diversity of the work.

We support the Australian Defence Force deliver capability with procurement and contracting advice.

The tasks we work on are both big and small.

Some can extend over the course of a year, and it provides huge job satisfaction to see a project worth hundreds of millions of dollars get across the line to help our soldiers, sailors and aviators.

Some of the tasks you might be expected to do include:

  • Providing advice to Defence clients on how to conduct a procurement and obtain the services they need.
  • Assisting with policy development and planning;
  • Developing and issuing tenders and requests for quotation to the market;
  • Participating in contract negotiations between Defence and industry;
  • Providing advice to Defence clients on how to manage their contracts;
  • Assisting Defence clients conducting contract performance reviews; and
  • Conducting contract governance and reporting activities.

About our Team

The Non Materiel Procurement Branch delivers commercial expertise and solutions for procurement and contracting across the procurement life cycle to help Defence meet its objectives, maximise value for money outcomes and meet legislative and mandatory policy requirements.

As a branch of high performing individuals, teams work closely together to provide sound and timely advice to support both simple and complex procurement projects.

In addition to supporting procurements, the teams review and refine best practice procurement and contracting processes to ensure adherence to regulatory and legislative frameworks.
