Tier 1 Construction business seeking a Sustainability Manager/Advisor to work alongside a Senior VIC counterpart, reporting into a National Environmental and Sustainability Operations Manager and alongside Operational Safety and Operations Environmental Manager colleagues.

Projects range from Healthcare, Stadia, Institutional and Metro project, and will require travel to project teams.


About the Role
This is a key role in the NSW Building BU.

Reporting into the NSW Operations Manager you'll be accountable for providing sustainable outcomes for the NSW Building projects by identifying and implementing sustainability initiatives and supporting the project to meet its sustainability obligations.


Responsibilities of the role include:


  • Provide & take leadership responsibility in site sustainability management
  • Coordinate and provide daytoday specialist sustainability management support to internal & project stakeholders
  • Provide operational sustainability guidance, diligence, consistency, and discipline to business leaders to drive a culture of best practice
  • Work to identify & manage sustainability risks
  • Liaise with government bodies & professional organisations on sustainability matters
  • Establish, monitor and report on key sustainability performance objectives and standards for managing project risks
  • Support the development of the sustainability team personnel in leading practices and driving improvement
  • Identify and mitigate risks prior to works commencing, communicate with and engage relevant stakeholders to control risk and contribute to building a risk management culture
  • Consult with workers to identify opportunities for efficiencies and streamlining of sustainability processes and outcomes, striving to be a leader in the industry
  • Monitor system and process audits to ensure compliance with sustainability standards requirements.

To be successful in this key role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Science, Engineering or other associated disciplines.
  • Specialist sustainability experience within the construction industry, ideally with a Tier 1 Contractor
  • Understanding of sustainability management techniques, National Construction Code compliance, Project Approval processes and requirements.
  • Understanding of Federal, State & Local sustainability statues & legislation
