The Company

    The Role


The successful Design Manager will service the business in the pre-construction phase and work through the design in the delivery phase managing design & compliance risk, authority approvals together with the completion of the construction documentation.


  • You will be responsible for managing safety in the design, consultant scopes, value management, documentation & shop drawings.

To be successful for the role you must have the following skills:


  • Bachelor and/or Master's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture or similar
  • Minimum 34 years' Design Management experience working for a T2 Builder
  • Project Management Experience demonstrating Time, Cost and Scope understanding
  • Demonstrated experience in functional briefs, consultant scopes and engagements
  • Experience over various building types in excess of $50M in value
  • Demonstrated experience and use of MS Project, Excel & ACONEX
  • Good temperament with established presentation and communication skills

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Manage and coach Design staff effectively by conducting regular meetings with each direct report to ensure they are meeting their key deliverables. Proactively address performance issues as they arise.
  • Advising the administration and construction teams on the design aspects and services coordination as required during the initial design stage.
  • Ensure all consultants and departments are working with the latest architectural information.
  • Review consultant output and agreements for compliance with the design brief.
  • Review the general arrangement plans prior to release of DA and CC.
  • Review submitted tenders with the administration and construction teams to check scope of work, plant / equipment selections and alternative design compliance with brief, as requested.
  • Ensure all required consultant and subcontractor information including measurable details are clearly identifiable for our working drawings, where applicable.
  • Liaise with the administration and construction teams to resolve site coordination matters.
  • Review and check client sales documentation in regard to appropriate design description and inclusions to reflect our tender allowances.
  • Assist with the updating of Certification documentation, Maintenance and Purchaser Manuals.
  • Liaise with Consultants and provide feedback to the administration and construction teams
