The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented C-17 Simulator Technician Team Lead to support a world class strategic lift aircraft, the C-17 Globemaster.

The Simulator Technician Team Lead ensures the seamless execution of maintenance activities across a wide variety of training devices in support of Pilot, Loadmaster and Maintenance Instruction.

The role is based at RAAF Amberley, Brisbane. The role belongs to the Product Support, Training and Maintenance Capability.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership to the local C17 Simulator Technician Team including contract execution, performance, safety and quality.
  • Demonstrate sound communication and analytical skills with the ability to leverage stakeholder relationships and resources to ensure timely management of C17 training system requirements
  • Manage information security requirements for C17 training systems
  • Work and contribute to BDA's Environment, Health & Safety Management System
  • Manage and perform general preoperations, postoperations and component handling of training devices when other team members are absent
  • Demonstrate an understanding of maintenance, repair, test, installation, configuration, upgrade and modification of simulators and training components, devices, hardware and software in accordance with approved maintenance documentation
Experience/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership and management of maintenance activities across a wide variety of systems including pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, software, and visual (highly desirable)
  • Boeing Defence Australia organisational understanding (highly desirable)
  • Management experience (desirable)
  • Familiarity with aircraft flight and mission systems preferred, but not essential


  • Certificate IV Aeroskills

  • Avionics MEA0618 or equivalent (desirable)
  • Experience maintaining aircrew and maintenance simulators (desirable)
  • Restricted Electrical Licence (Desirable)
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements
  • IT skills and an understanding of engineering processes (desirable)
  • Minimum NV1 Security Clearance (essential)
