ROLE PURPOSE


The Learning & Content team is responsible for sharing contemporary and emerging philanthropic practice and content through activities, events and programs and by directly engaging and supporting members to enhance their practice.


The Learning & Content Officer is a key role within the Learning and Content team, supporting the development of content to grow sector capacity and enable more and better giving.

The role will work closely with the Director, Learning & Content to support the delivery of Philanthropy Australia's content strategy.


The Learning & Content Officer will also collaborate with others to convene Peer Networks, Philanthropy Australia's communities of practice, to develop members' learning, networking and collaboration on specific focus areas.


The person in this role will assist with content curation and resource development, as well as the practical day-to-day administration and support required to ensure effective and varied content delivery, through workshops, network meetings and webinars.


The Learning & Content Officer will also work with Marketing and Communications team to support the dissemination of relevant content via digital platforms, newsletters and website articles to align with key themes and events.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Development

  • Support the development and delivery of PA's annual (and ongoing) content strategy
  • Prepare speaker briefings and event run sheets which include key content and talking points
  • Research national and international philanthropic issues, trends and practices to support the content strategy
  • Develop and maintain an internal database of potential speakers based on key content teams (working closely with the Membership Services Team to capture information and data)
  • Support the Director, Learning & Content with content curation and development as required
Program Delivery

  • Assist with the curation, development and delivery of a national contentbased program which includes:
  • Philanthropy Australia National Conference (next Conference in 2024)
  • Australian Philanthropy Awards
  • Webinars, workshops and masterclasses
  • Peer Networks (see below)
  • International study tours
  • Telescope, an annual report capturing sector interests and needs
  • Professional Learning Program
  • Other bespoke events specific to philanthropic learning opportunities
  • Provide administrative and hosting support
Peer Networks

  • Collaborate across the organisation (particularly with the Member Services Team) to coordinate the facilitation of PA's Peer Networks offering, which includes:
  • Deliver the 2023 Peer Network program
  • including reviving other Peer Networks that are not currently active.
  • Support the planning and execution of the program
  • Support the planning of each Peer Network in conjunction with the PA stafflead and the Peer Network Chair(s)
  • Liaise with the PA stafflead, other PA staff and where relevant
  • Chairs of each Peer Network to develop the meeting agenda, prepare guest speakers, and deliver peer networks
  • Coordinate the evaluation of Peer Networks and make recommendations for improvements and change
Executive & Professional Practise

  • Participate in Philanthropy Australia's corporate life including attendance at and assistance with stakeholder events and afterhour programs and events as required
  • Maintain effective links and relationships with key and relevant stakeholders in the philanthropic sector
Other duties and projects as reasonably directed by the Director, Learning & Content.

As this role supports a national strategy and program of events, the ability to attend events out of normal business hours and travel interstate on occasion is required.


SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Experience in philanthropy and/or forpurpose sector
  • Excellent stakeholder management
  • Experience in content development such as training resources or information slides
  • Strong planning and project management skills feeding into multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence to lead planning meetings and advise on agenda issues
  • Strong ICT skills and knowledge (Microsoft Office)
  • Strong relationship building with both internal and external stakeholders and ability to confidently communicate with senior executives
  • Highlevel administration skills with attention to detail and an ability to multitask and prioritise
  • Understanding of and interest in philanthropy
  • Negotiation and effective problemsolving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team while also taking responsibility
