About the role
This is a
permanent,
full time, Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm position working
35 hours per week. Located at the
Nowra Administration Building.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.


Duties
Reporting directly to the Manager - Projects & Design, the focus of this position is to:

  • Perform engineering design and drafting, estimation of quantities, estimation of cost of a complex nature and keep records in accordance with Statutory Regulations, provisions and Council Policy and Objectives.
  • To provide technical support and information for reports on engineering designs and Council Policy proposals to all Shoalhaven Water sections, external bodies and the general public.
  • Support and supervise staff in the day to day operations of the design drafting function.
  • Ensure the work area's compliance with relevant legislation and Council policies and ensure that risks are managed.

Skills & Experience
In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent
  • Extensive experience in design, drafting, estimating and project preparation for Local Authority works
  • Demonstrated drafting, quantity and cost estimating skills
  • Working skills in Engineering Surveying
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Civil Engineering Standards and requirements
  • Working knowledge of computer aided design and drafting software
  • Sound knowledge of the relevant Australian Standards requirements
  • High level of communications skills, including personal, written and phone negotiation skills, with the ability to understand others viewpoints, be able to communicate information clearly and be able to adapt communications/negotiations to the needs of the audience.
  • Current Class C drivers' licence
  • Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or the proof of right to work in Australia (visa)
