Electromagnetic Warfare and Intelligence Systems (EWIS) Land Systems Program Office (Land SPO) is seeking a talented and experienced security professional to join our team and perform the role of an APS 6 Security Advisor.

The successful applicant will be required to perform, contribute, and achieve complex security work within an integrated workforce under general guidance.


This position is located within EWIS Land SPO Business Management Unit and will be responsible for establishing a positive security culture and environment for activities, information and personnel.

They will work within the legislation framework, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence's mission and business objectives.


The Security Advisor will actively manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders' expectations and concerns to develop, and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes.

The Security Advisor will develop and maintain close links with a range of other Defence and Defence Industry security partners.


About our Team


Based in Canberra, the EWIS Land SPO Business Management Unit is comprised of members of diverse skills and disciplines who work together to provide governance, assurance and enabling services to support a wide variety of activities undertaken by EWIS Land SPO.


  • Provide detailed security, technical, and professional advice which will contribute to program and project management and planning;
  • Have the capacity to think strategically and develop plans and processes to enhance the achievement of business outcomes;
  • Knowledge of and ability to provide advice on security incidents that is in accordance with the Defence Security Policy Framework (DSPF);
  • Work collaboratively with EWIS Land stakeholders to support the achievement of outcomes;
  • Highly developed communication skills;
  • Ability to set work priorities and manage workflows; and
  • Actively participate in team work and group activities.
