Who we're looking for:


Reporting to the National Procurement manager, the Procurement Manager - SA will carry out efficient & cost-effective sourcing, procurement, delivery, reporting and ongoing improvement in regard to supplier management, materials, plant, assets and supporting services to BMD and its associated businesses/sites/jobs as required.

You will be a natural relationship builder with excellent communication skills and proven technical expertise to:


  • Manage the approval of RFA's and purchase orders for materials, services, and equipment
  • Manage the process of wet & dry hire related activities, including sourcing and pricing
  • Provide procurement assistance & direction to estimating, tender & project teams
  • Collaborate with business personnel and projects to ensure supplier expectations are being met
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with suppliers to source and negotiate the most costeffective rates and service and to resolve any issues
  • Ensure suppliers and subcontractors meet and exceed our expectations in regard to safety, environment, quality, price and delivery requirements.
  • Understand and provide direction in regard to BMDs procurement policies, procedures, DOAs and internal control standards.
  • Direct management of logistics coordinators and local procurement/fleet workshops/sites/yards/stores
  • Control & management of assets & small tools
  • Experience working as a Purchasing Manager within the construction industry (highly desirable)
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an accomplished ability to negotiate.
  • Proficient at multitasking and organisational management.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and cope with the pressure of demanding targets and tight deadlines.
  • Analytical & reporting skills incorporating a high standard of numeracy & computer literacy
