_Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) is currently looking for Commercial Analyst to join the onshore Development team in Newcastle, NSW, Australia.

The role


The Commercial Analyst will support the financial analysis and commercial case development for renewable energy projects, with a primary focus on wind energy within the National Electricity Market (NEM).

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable energy solutions while exploring diverse technologies and locations.


Responsibilities will further consist of

  • Commercial Strategy: Develop and refine commercial strategies for renewable energy projects, considering different technologies and geographical locations to maximize project profitability.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct comprehensive financial analyses, including revenue yield estimation, cash flow modelling, and cost estimation, to assess the economic feasibility of renewable energy projects.
  • Financial Modelling: Create and maintain robust financial models, incorporating various scenarios and sensitivities, to support decisionmaking processes and enhance project value.
  • Market Research: Stay abreast of market trends, energy policies, and incentives, providing insights to guide decisionmaking and optimize project development strategies.
  • Proposal Development: Manage and prepare commercial proposals for new renewable energy projects.
  • Contract Negotiation: Participate in contract negotiations with suppliers, contractors, and other relevant parties to secure favourable terms and optimize project economics.
  • Reporting: Prepare clear and concise reports on project financial performance, ensuring accurate and timely information is provided to internal and external stakeholders.

Main Interfaces / stakeholders

  • Project Development Team: Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and environmental specialists to analyse and support the development of renewable energy projects.
  • Finance Department: Work in tandem with the finance team to assess financial viability, conduct costbenefit analyses, and develop financial models for project evaluation.
  • Investors and Stakeholders: Communicate project financials, risks, and opportunities to potential investors and stakeholders, fostering strong relationships to drive project success.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Business, or related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of the National Electricity Market (NEM) in Australia.
  • Excellent analytical and modelling skills, with proficiency in financial software.
