Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for an Injury Management Advisor to join our team at Brisbane Corporate Office. Reporting to the Injury Management Specialist, this is a varied role within an energetic, established team.


With over 55 years of experience, Macmahon is a mining contractor with a unique capability of offering its clients surface, underground and mining support services.


The Brisbane office is located a short 2 minute walk from Brisbane Central Station with level 21 views and end of journey facilities for those self-powering their commute to work.


The role

  • Ensure State or Territory Workers Compensation legislation is adhered to
  • Liaise with the company appointed workers compensation insurers to ensure there is continual high level strategic analysis of claims to help mitigate costs and ensure workers resume their normal duties as soon as practicable
  • Attend claims reviews with insurers on a quarterly basis
  • Assist sites with the coordination of medical reviews for injured workers when required
  • Attend medical appointments as required with injured workers
  • Provide regular and succinct high level injury management updates to Senior Management and site HSEQ regarding the planned management of all workplace injuries requiring Doctor intervention
  • Develop proposed Return to Work Plans in line with medical guidance
  • Submit workers compensation and income protection claims
  • Maintain the injury management database (Solv Injury)
  • Provide Senior Management with a monthly report summarizing the status of all work and nonwork related injuries within the business
  • Liaise with payroll to ensure workers compensation and income protection payments are processed in line with insurer guidance
  • Provide guidance to sites regarding the classification of injuries in line with the medical evidence provided and the investigations performed at a site level
  • Provide strategic advice to Management and Human Resources when fitness for work concerns are raised
  • Assist Human Resources in the termination of workers on medical grounds when medically appropriate
  • Review preemployment medicals
  • Minimum 4 years injury management / workers compensation experience
  • Knowledge of workers compensation legislation across multiple jurisdictions


  • Allied Health qualification

  • Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Exercise Physiologist, or similar
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to influence, engage and work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups of internal & external stakeholders
  • Have strong prioritisation, organisational and task management skills
  • Experienced User of the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Experience in the Mining and Resources sector will be highly regarded but is not required
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution
  • Have a current valid Driver's License
  • Class C
