About the RoleA state-wide management program for patient access to surgical services exists in Queensland public hospitals.

This program is realised by appointed Elective Surgery Coordinators who direct, coordinate and manage patient access, at the hospital and health service level consistent with Queensland Health and whole of government directives.

The position of Elective Surgery Coordinator will assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate best practice in the management of patient access to surgical services in public hospitals.


  • Coordinate and manage access to elective surgery within Redland Hospital. Assist in the development and implementation of strategies in accordance with Queensland Health's direction for the management of access to elective surgery and outpatient as they relate to surgical throughput. Continuously liaise with the Directors of Surgical Services to advise and undertake tasks related to elective surgery bookings, wait list management and theatre utilisation to ensure that BHS's surgical services from an operational and strategic perspective are monitored, evaluated and managed appropriately.
