Description

The Horizon PMO Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the Horizon Project Management Office (PMO) driving project governance across all squads and streams.

The role has an end-to-end view of program delivery, the program roadmap and works closely with the Metcash Program Director to ensure Program Horizon is delivered on time and to the agreed scope and budget.


What you'll do

  • PMO Leadership & Strategy
  • Develop and implement the PMO's strategic vision, goals, and objectives in alignment with the Program's overall strategy
  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks, policies, and procedures for project management activities


  • Project Management

  • Oversee the management of the workstreams and dependency alignment for external dependent projects (Portfolio), ensuring projects are prioritized, resourced appropriately, and delivered on time and within budget.
  • Conduct regular reviews to evaluate project performance, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Methodology and best practices
  • Develop and promote project management methodologies, standards, and best practices.
  • Resource Management and capacity planning
  • Work closely with workstream leads, project managers and functional leaders to allocate resources based on project priorities and availability in accordance with work plans.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • Establish strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand their needs, expectations, and strategic objectives. Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
  • Risk, issue, dependency & decision management
  • Develop and implement a robust risk, issue, dependency and decision management framework. Identify, assess, and prioritize project risks and issues, and develop mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure Program, workstream, project performance.
  • Change, training & communications management
  • Support organisational change, training, and communications initiatives by providing project management expertise and guidance.
  • Collaboration & knowledge sharing
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across project teams and stakeholders.

What you'll bring to the role

  • Proven experience & success in managing program delivery in a complex, matrix environments
  • Advanced planning & organisation skills
  • Disciplined approach to program and project management whilst remaining flexible in approach to getting the job done
  • An ability to influence & gain stakeholder buyin by building strong & effective internal and external working relationships
  • Strong strategic planning and commercial acumen to enable input into key program business decision making to priorities work across the program
  • Ability to solve problems, assist the business in decisions through use of analytical and robust decision making
  • Comfort working with both waterfall and agile methodologies, as required


  • Project Management
Certification and/or Qualifications eg AIPM, PMI / PMP, PRINCE2, PROSI Accreditation, P30 and/or SAFe/Agile

  • Intermediate MS Project Schedule skills
  • Experience within FMCG industry desirable
