VIC Local Council in the search for a highly capable individuals to join as a
Finance Business Partner located in
Melton, VIC.



What's in it for you:

About the role:


  • Working closely with the Lead Finance Transformation, the position will play a key role as the conduit between the Finance and the wider operations of the organisation delivering a range of highquality financial analysis, advice and support to assist management decision making. A key priority is to add value and insight through business partnering with Managers and budget owners across the business.
  • The position ensures delivery of accurate and timely financial information, budget preparation, monitoring and reporting, contributes to business planning and ensures Business Units have the necessary support and information to enable effective and best practice financial management.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develop a strong knowledge of stakeholders and anticipate and respond to their needs.
  • Provide support, advice and training relating to the various accounting, finance and reporting systems as well as contribute to improvement that enhances the functionality of the system.
  • Prepare and coordinate the timely and accurate information for the preparation of the annual budget, long term financial plan, quarterly and monthly financial management reports, capital works reports, Key Performance Indicators and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Development of financial management systems that enhance the quality and timeliness of all management and budgetary performance monitoring information.
  • Active engagement as a business partner with business unit managers and staff to ensure that Business Information System and all its modules are well supported to ensure an effective and userfriendly customer experience.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, accounting standards and all Council policies and procedures.
  • Drive improvements in processes and procedures as systems are implemented and continue to evolve.

Qualifications and experience:


  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, commerce or related discipline with membership of CPA or CA or recognized professional accounting body such as the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and financial reporting with the ability to exemplify financial management best practice.
  • A good knowledge of financial Information systems such as Powerbudget, Authority and Power BI.
  • Sound knowledge of the operations of an integrated corporate finance system with handson experience in general Ledger.
  • Understanding and knowledge of relevant accounting standards and regulations, especially the Local Government Act, AAS27 and IFRS requirements as they affect the reporting of Local Government entity.
