Position Information
Winmalee High School is a Year 7-12 comprehensive high school located in the Blue Mountains. The traditional custodians of the land are the Dharug and Gundungurra people. Student enrolment remains around 800 students. Over 90% of the school student population were born in Australia.

The vast majority of students have English as their home language and 7% of our students have a language background other than English.

Just under 5% of our students identify as having an Aboriginal background. Our motto of 'strive to achieve' continues as a focus in academic, cultural, artistic and sporting endeavours.

The school has a strong academic reputation and excels in terms of visual arts, band and dance programs which encourage performance in eisteddfods and other state-wide opportunities including PULSE and Schools Spectacular.

Many students experience success in competitions including debating, public speaking, English, mathematics, science, and computing, as well as in the many sporting teams that have competed successfully in Sydney West through to state.

Specific Selection Criteria:


  • Approval to teach English 7 10 and English with the capacity to teach English Extensions 1 &
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the needs of students with a diverse range of learning abilities through differentiated, innovative and effective teaching practices that challenge and engage all students.
  • Demonstrated capacity to contribute collaboratively to faculty programs particularly in the area of planning for the new syllabus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to whole school roles and responsibilities, contributing positively to workplace culture and school strategic directions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team with highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, having the capacity to work with staff, students, parents and the community.
