Our fabulous
Environment Business is growing with a wide range of interesting projects and sustainable design.

We are a large multidisciplinary company with iconic projects across transport, renewables, environmental studies, dam & hydropower, solar power projects, energy transition and in-land rail.


We are seeking a
Senior Ecologist (Terrestrial) looking to take their next career step into a
Team Lead, make their own stamp and further grow our ecology business.

You will ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes and exceed our stakeholder's expectations.

We have a great pipeline of work including standalone ecology projects and this is your opportunity take it to the next level.

You will play a key part in;

  • Ensuring that technical tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC
  • Coordinating and undertaking field surveys (as required)
  • Collaborating with team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and coordination of project deliverables
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships internally and externally
  • Supporting proposal preparation
  • Contributing to the commercial success of projects and the team


With a track record of achievement in a similar role, preferably you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change.


Suitable applicants will have/be:

  • A degree/post graduate qualification in Environmental Science (Botany highly regarded)
  • 7+ years' experience in terrestrial flora or fauna survey, including the capacity to plan surveys and coordinate field teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in the collection and interpretation of ecological data
  • Well developed experience in preparing and reviewing reports
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a diverse and multidisciplinary environment
  • BAM accreditation is desirable.
