Design Manager
KBR are the Principal Design partner on the North Western Program Alliance (NWPA). The Alliance comprises of Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne, KBR, and John Holland.


NWPA was established in 2017 and has delivered on approximately $3B of transport infrastructure projects for The State and community.

Based on our success, LXRP have recently awarded NWPA a 5-year extension to our partnership providing us a strong, clear pipeline of transport opportunities through Melbourne till 2027.


With the significant demand present within the Victoria transport sector, a move to NWPA & KBR is an exciting next step in your planning career.

You'll be working on high profile, community shaping projects, predominately involving the removal of level crossings across Melbourne, with some other diverse opportunities currently being developed by NWPA.


Unlike traditional planning roles, this position will provide an opportunity to influence high profile infrastructure projects from early design and planning, right through to delivery.

Working within a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team, you will be a key part to developing creative solutions to achieve industry best practice outcomes.

Whilst this position will initially join the NWPA, this is a permanent role with KBR which opens a door to working on other iconic infrastructure projects nationally.


The Opportunity
On NWPA, Design Manager is a key role within our organisational structure and project team.

You will have opportunity to lead every stage of a project cycle from Business Case and Development Phase through to Construction and Asset Handover.


Your transport infrastructure design expertise and multidisciplinary management skills will be key in shaping our capability, one that is renowned for achieving exceptional outcomes and providing the Alliance and client with great places, greater transport networks and project performance outcomes.


Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will be included but are not limited to:

  • Accountability for scope, cost, time and quality strategy, operation and performance.
  • Work closely with the client and internal staff to effectively manage expectations, contract compliance, and achieve compliance with NWPA & KBR systems and processes
  • Identify valueadds, innovations and other points of difference that NWPA and KBR can deliver or develop further with the Alliance team and client.
  • Client relationship management
  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team (both internal KBR disciplines as well as external subconsultant partners)

What you will need to succeed

  • A solid track record and demonstrated experience within the Transport Infrastructure sector, preferably in Victoria.
  • Strong technical design management ability (incl people, relationships, reporting)
