My client a leading Insurance provider are seeking a Data Governance Principal to join their dynamic and innovative team based in Melbourne, Australia.

As the Data Governance Principal, you will be responsible for leading the data governance strategy and framework, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulation while maintaining the risk management principles.

You will be joining a team of talented professionals committed to driving success in a collaborative and supportive environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance data governance practices across the organization by providing strategic direction.
  • Ensure that knowledge and awareness of data governance across the enterprise grows by leading the Data Governance agenda.
  • Develop and monitor compliance with a roadmap and plan for the rollout of the Data Governance Framework across the enterprise.
  • Contribute to achieving the "Manage our risks" pillar of the corporate strategy.
  • Influence decisions and simplify complex topics effectively by communicating with executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate exceptional written communication skills, including executive/Board report writing.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data governance roles, with at least 3 years in leadership positions, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Indepth understanding of relevant datarelated legislation and regulations such as CPG235, the Privacy Act (including Australian Privacy Principles), and others.
  • Outcomeoriented with a focus on achieving goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and influence decisionmaking with an executive audience by simplifying complex topics.
  • Exceptional writing skills, including experience in producing executive and board reports.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field, such as data, technology, commerce, audit, or risk.
  • Accreditation in industryspecific technology and/or risk management.
  • Knowledge of the Consumer Data Right (CDR), including accreditation requirements and compliance pathways.
  • Familiarity with operating within a three lines of defense risk model.
