We are a Not-for-Profit organisation with a team of more than 130 experienced practitioners from many cultures and we provide out-of-home care to Young People aged between 6-17 and we're continuing to grow.

We operate a licenced Not-for-Profit service and have developed our own therapeutic framework to help create and support change in Young People who have suffered serious trauma.

Our homes where these children live, are on rural properties and they include animals and engagement with nature in our daily programs.

The role


The Team Leader role is a dynamic role where you will be supporting Young People in out-of-home care within our therapeutic, acreage/rural-based properties, technology-reduced model of care.

This is a permanent full-time role which requires you to be available to offer weekday on-call phone support to your team and weekend on-call phone support to your area (rotating roster) and the possibility of filling shifts within the home.


As a Team Leader you will be responsible for the delivery of care services to our Young People in a home environment through the provision and management of a team of Youth Workers/Team Members, supporting Young People with challenging, maladaptive behaviours to achieve social, educational, cultural, and emotional goals and to liaise effectively with stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes and transitional goals.


Our goal is to teach Young People new coping strategies, new pro-social behaviours to transition them to a forever home.

About you


You would need to have a high level of resilience, patience, compassion, empathy and passion to enhance the lives of our Young People, be consistently engaged and plan with a purpose to build on the capacity of our Young People in all aspects; emotionally, physically, life skills, socially and culturally.

Your initiative and pro-active approach will be highly valued in your day-to-day work.


As a Team Leader you would work within a tight-knit team to create a positive and safe home environment and will need to have the ability to build a genuine connection with our Young People, committed to supporting our Young People engage safely in the community in activities and building social networks, you will support trauma pain-based behaviours, perform daily tasks and complete all mandatory reporting.

You would share the same focus-driven outcomes by following the organisation's goals, policies and procedures.

In addition to supporting our Young People, you will also be mentoring and supporting your Team Members.

This will include on-call phone support, flexibility to attend on shift if required and regular supervisions and career development planning.

You will be able to demonstrate your experience as a passionate, resilient and dedicated Team Leader supporting your team to achieve organisational goals and Team Member career development goals.


Daily tasks may consist of:

  • Develop support plans including positive behaviour plans and progress reports
  • Assess and promote Young People's development
  • Liaise and report to Stakeholders to provide information, assist with plans and ensure outcomes
  • Develop activity plans for the Young Person and support community engagement
  • Safely support behaviours using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
  • Ensure allocation and maintenance of rosters for Team Members, completion of timesheets
  • Management and responsibility of all resources associated to the placement
  • Facilitate team meetings and Team Member supervisions including delegation and performance management
  • Lead and mentor Team Members to support their professional development and promotion
  • Report to the Board as required
  • Able to fill in the role of a Youth Worker/Team Member when on shift wi
