Leading the resolution of builder complaints in relation to eligibility and policy issuance and where required, provide necessary information and data for review via the VMIA's internal dispute resolution process, preparing briefing papers as required.


  • Managing the facilitation of modelling and determination of premium eligibility, policy development and design for the DBI client base.
  • Engaging on operational and strategic goals for the DBI portfolio and broader consumer protection framework in Victoria.
  • Managing thought leadership in areas of risk selection and lead harm prevention initiatives to minimise consumer detriment as well as to ensure the efficient and costeffective performance of the DBI portfolio.
  • Leading the monitoring of scheme performance to ensure issues are identified and measures are established to limit financial exposures and ensure the viability of the scheme.
  • Managing compliance to ensure all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements are maintained.
  • Engaging with internal and external key stakeholders in public and private sectors to ensure the efficient delivery of underwriting services and acceptance of risks. You provide regular and comprehensive reporting to the DBI Leadership Team, service providers and external consultants.
About you

  • Extensive experience, at least 10 years, at a senior level in leading teams in the financial services industry, with the ability to positively lead, identify and influence outcomes.
  • Demonstrated underwriting experience within the Domestic Building Insurance industry (preferrable) or equivalent experience, such as Trade Credit, surety bonds, professional indemnity (essential).
  • Highly developed decisionmaking skills with demonstrated capacity to assess potential business risks and make timely and effective decisions consistent with the business control framework and can prepare board papers and ministerial briefing documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to network, build and manage effective business relationships with diverse stakeholder groups at the Executive level.
  • Demonstrated capability for strategic and operational thinking and planning.
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Sound understanding of the complexities and nuances of public sector management, with the capability to operate successfully in such an environment.
