Eligibility

  • To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health and Aged Care
applicants must be an Australian citizen at the time an offer of employment is made

  • An applicant's suitability for employment with Health will also be assessed through a

  • Satisfactory completion of an Australian Federal Police criminal history check,
and where relevant a Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check.

Division Responsibilities
Financial Management Division (FMD) provides support to Health through a range of

financial and budget management services and advice, property and asset management,

and other corporate services, including public facing enquiry management. FMD also

coordinates preparation and publication of key planning and reporting documents (the

Corporate Plan, Portfolio Budget Statements and Annual Report), and oversees the portfolio

regulatory framework, including coordination of deregulatory activities and reporting.


Branch Responsibilities
Finance Branch provides strategic financial advice to the Executive, manages Health's annual

and monthly financial reporting, and oversees internal financial control frameworks and

associated compliance. The branch monitors administered expenditure across all outcomes

provides accounting advice and is Health's taxation manager. The branch also coordinates

corporate planning and performance reporting and supports best practice regulation.


Section Responsibilities
The role of the Financial Reporting & Treasury section is to support the Department's

statutory reporting requirements and to manage the Department's complex cash

arrangements in support of the delivery of agreed objectives.***
Key Responsibilities

The key duties of the position include:
Under the general direction of the EL1 Assistant Director of Financial Reporting and



Treasury:


  • Ongoing administration of TGA cash management;**
  • Assist in preparation of end of year and end of month financial statements for TGA.
This includes preparing and processing general ledger journals, reconciling balance

sheet accounts. Prepare monthly balance sheet comments for TGA Executive;**
  • Asset
additions and disposals are processed in a timely manner. Perform asset

stocktakes annually.***

Desirable Experience
Previous experience working in a finance related field.

Experience in the use of a financial management information system (preferably SAP).
