About this role:

This company is a multi-disciplinary design practice with offices in Melbourne, Sydney Auckland and London.

Together, their team provides a unique combination of design expertise spanning the disciplines of wayfinding, product design, urban design, graphic and information design, and branding.

They have led and collaborated on a wide range of projects around the world, from small-scale wayfinding systems to major transport infrastructure projects.


The principal responsibilities of this position will include leading the wayfinding team in the development of wayfinding strategies and documentation including reports, schedules and placement plans.

This involves close collaboration and coordination with the architectural design team and other interfacing packages such as urban design, engineering, IMEP, Fire Life Safety, Access/DDA, BCA etc.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver wayfinding component of large a large metro, rail and infrastructure projects
  • Undertake research of existing signage guidelines
  • Prepare an overarching wayfinding strategy for the stations
  • Manage/oversee the delivery of detailed signage and wayfinding drawings, schedules, placement plans and specifications from concept through to tender and construction stages
  • Monitor programme and deliverables and assist in the projection of required resources
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines to communicate the wayfinding strategy and coordinate signage elements
  • Design and write reports

Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years experience in Wayfinding Design and Planning within the transport industry
  • Experience in working with Architects, Engineers, Landscape Architects and Designers
  • Experience of drawing up maps and pictograms
  • Excellent conceptual and strategic thinking skills with a user centric focus
  • Great written, spoken and interpersonal communication skills
  • Conscientious, organised, thorough and highly detail minded
  • Proactive, collaborative and ability to work well under pressure
  • Proficient in reading architectural plans, sections, elevations and details
  • Proficient in CAD, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Revit/BIM skills advantageous
