The opportunity:


This role can be either Sydney or Melbourne based, and you will deliver on AIA's purpose, vision and strategy by developing and overseeing AIA's claims guidelines and philosophy.

You will provide your technical expertise to numerous stakeholders across the business.

To do this successfully you will:

  • Manage quality control of claims through formal reviews providing written analysis and trend reporting to senior management.
  • Manage claims delegations of authority including authority limit increases.
  • Develop and keep up to date claims guidelines and standards to ensure consistency with the AIA Australia Claims Philosophy and that any changes are within AIA Group's Standards.
  • Ensure claims staff are informed and trained on new and updated guidelines, standards and the Philosophy.
  • Responsible for the engagement of key external stakeholders (including reinsurers, consultants) to proactively drive improvements within the claims area.
  • Act as a consultant and provide advice to claims staff on technical matters.
  • Undertake due diligence on new and revised product terms and offerings.
  • Provide technical input and undertake due diligence on technical claims related training content.
  • Demonstrated success and at least 5 years' experience in a Life Insurance Retail and/or Group Claims assessment role.
  • Excellent understanding of the key drivers of a Life Insurance claims department.
  • High level knowledge of product, medical, system and legislation/regulations impacting the life insurance industry.
  • Strong computer skills (including Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint)
  • Data analysis and reporting ability in the context of Life Insurance Claims
