An exciting opportunity exists to join NALHN as a Consultant - Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

In this role, you will be accountable to the Medical Head of ICU, NALHN, for the provision of quality cost effective clinical services in the ICU of Lyell McEwin Hospital including:

  • Providing comprehensive clinical care to the patients of the Critical Care Division, and ensuring that junior medical staff involved in patient care are properly supervised. The staff specialist will ensure that all patients undergo a thorough admission and assessment process, sufficient to guide management, investigation and ongoing treatment of the patient.
  • Providing consultancy services to staff and patients in other areas within the health unit
  • Assisting with the transfer of patients to tertiary institutions (when required)
  • Involvement in quality activities
  • Promotion of and participation in patient safety initiatives
  • Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff in the ICU / MMET
  • Participation in an after hours and / or oncall roster
  • You must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
  • The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.

In addition to the mandatory vaccination requirements for all SA Health roles under this Policy SA Health workers must also comply with any vaccination requirements imposed under legislation (including any directions under the

_South Australian Public Health Act 2011_) and any mandatory vaccination requirements under the terms and conditions of employment of employees.
