An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HSEQ Safety Advisor to join Service Stream in our Transport Sector based in, Frankston South location
About the Role

Service Stream's Corporate division are currently seeking a HSEQ Safety Advisor to join our Group Safety team.

Reporting directly to the Regional HSEQ Transport Manager, you will be responsible for providing specialist health, safety, environmental and quality management in the development, implementation, measuring & evaluation and reporting on compliance with HSEQ management system.

This role will be field focused predominantly, and it is expected that a large majority of the role will be spent collaboratively in the field with contractors, line management and operatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide key support in the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of HSE policies, management plans and associated procedures relevant to the risks
  • Actively implement all HSE initiatives.
  • Conduct regular routine HSE audits programs and inspections.
  • Complete incident / injury investigations as required.
  • Assist in monitoring and ensuring organisational legislative and contractual compliance in relation to health, safety and environmental requirements and workplace practices.
  • Coordinate the returntowork process.
  • Ensure that HSE risks related to operation and maintenance activities whether carried out by employees or contractors are properly managed.
  • Provide coaching and training to employees as required.
  • Provide leadership to ensure the highest standard of safety is maintained for all stakeholders at all times.
  • Ensure all safety processes and procedures are adhered to
  • To act in accordance with relevant HSE (Health & Safety and Environmental) Legislation and Service Stream matrix of HSEQ responsibilities.
  • To perform all specified duties under the company's ISO & AS/NZS accredited management systems and Federal Safety Commissioner certification.
  • In collaboration with the Contract Mgr develop, implement and maintain an effective HSEQ management system, measure and report on the achievement of objectives and targets.
  • In collaboration with Contract Mgr, implement an effective HSEQ auditing program to provide assurance of regulatory compliance and maintain currency of all associated documentation.
  • Build an indepth knowledge of Critical Risk Controls and provide advice to line managers.
  • Monitor and review contractor safety procedures.
  • Provide specialist HSEQ guidance to line managers, HSE representatives and employees.
  • Develop and implement practices that improve HSEQ performance.
  • Support line management to ensure that relevant HSEQ policies, standards and guidelines are followed.
  • Assist project management to ensure it has adequate HSEQ risk management processes in place to identify and control its relevant hazards.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits of project HSEQ management systems and ensure that HSEQ compliance obligations and hazards are undertaken according to the level of underlying risk.
  • Promote use of Job Pre-Start Checks / SWMS tools via inductions, field visits & reviews.
  • Oversee HSEQ incident investigation to meet internal and regulatory timeframes.
  • Ensure HSEQ compliance/recertification audits are scheduled and conducted in a timely manner

About You

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in similar role.
  • Proven experience in engaging and liaising with front line staff & supervisors / managers, senior managers, industry specialists, clients and regulatory authorities.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and days as required
  • Minimum of tertiary WHS / Environmental management qualifications and relevant industry experience.
  • Current Drivers License
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
