The Role
This role is one of the most vital roles within Northrop.

Based out of our Brisbane office this newly created role has arisen for a Sustainability professional with close ties to the SEQ region to build something special, right from the outset, as we establish a Sustainability offering in the SEQ market.

In addition to autonomy, you have the support and guidance of being a part of a wider inter-regional multi-disciplinary team.


You will enjoy operating with an appropriate level of autonomy to work with agility and play an integral role in project delivery and client liaison.

You will also have the opportunity and empowerment to contribute to the continuous improvement of the team.

Key components of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Play a key role in strengthening the sustainability service offering across the SEQ region within the Built Environment
  • Operating across areas: sustainability consulting, group management and business development
  • Delivering Sustainability projects across the residential / health / education / commercial / industrial sectors.
  • Project leadership in sustainability projects including running multiple projects concurrently in a quality, cost effective and efficient manner.
  • Direct client interaction, responding efficiently to client's needs. Natural affiliation for "Client Side Thinking"
  • Act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues.
  • Champion our strategic shift to incorporate sustainable solutions into our designs and achieve our climate action goals.

To be successful in this role, you will also need to possess:


  • Degree in Sustainability, Engineering and Planning (Post Graduate Qualifications highly desirable).
  • Minimum 8 years working in the engineering consulting field with recent experience in a sustainability consulting / management role.
  • Experience working across Sustainability communities, Green Building Design and Existing Building performance
  • Sound knowledge in working with various rating frameworks Carbon Neutral Buildings, Greenstar, NABERS, WELL, ABSA/HERS)
  • Proven experience in a project facing, client delivery role, taking ownership of projects
  • Takes accountability for successes and failures.
  • Able to find common ground and gain personal and professional trust. You will have strong networks within the built environment and a strong capability for winning work for the Sustainability Group.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking capable of developing compelling strategies that deliver results.
  • A collaborative approach, working exceptionally well across various regions and functional groups.
  • Some experience managing people, (project based or formal) highly desirable you should be a 'people person' developing others and seeing them succeed should be a key motivator for you
