If you are looking to lead a unique service with an innovative model of care, incorporating Mentalisation-Based Treatment for children, families and teams (Anna Freud Centre, London), an exciting opportunity exists as the operational leader (
Centre Manager) of the state's first residential
Child and Family Centre (C&FC), in the
Infant Child & Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS), Mental Health Division.



About the Role


The Child and Family Centre (C&FC) is being newly established (based in Macleod) to provide innovative and specialist mental health residential care for children under 12 years, and their families / carers.

The Centre Manager, in partnership with the Clinical Director and Divisional Manager of ICYMHS, and the C&FC's project team, will be responsible for operationally establishing the service.


The Centre Manager, in collaboration with a Child Psychiatrist, will lead the development of the C&FC's processes, policies, and procedures, build networks and referral pathways, and the recruitment of the multi-disciplinary team in readiness for the Centre's planned opening towards the middle of 2023.

The Centre Manager position is required to commence as soon as possible.


Upon the C&FC's opening the Centre Manager will be the operational leader of the C&FC's multidisciplinary team and will model the core values of Austin Health through effective leadership and management of the clinical and support staff.
They will be responsible for ensuring the team's delivery of trauma informed, evidence-based care that meets professional, organisational, legal, and ethical standards.

They will develop and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally; promote staff wellbeing and professional development; and actively contribute to research and evaluation.
