What you will be doing:


An exciting opportunity is available for a Nurse Manager to join the Mental Health Service as a Duty Operations Manager on a Casual basis.

The purpose of the Duty Operations Manager is to provide day to day operational leadership and management and contribute to the effective management of the Mental Health Service, its people and resources and towards an optimal patient journey through care, and achievement of the Mental Health Service's Key Performance Targets.


Collaborative with other leaders and managers, facilitates the ongoing development of an Integrated Mental Health Service that has a primary focus on the person's journey through care and their lived recovery experience and ensure mental health care delivery is safe and undertaken within a multidisciplinary, collaborative framework and in line with Mental Health Standards.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:

  • Current Registration with AHPRA
  • Registered Nurse Division
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in management or working towards attainment and/or post graduate qualifications in Mental Health
  • Demonstrated broad clinical and operational management experience at a senior level within a complex health care environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate inspire and organise staff to achieve organisational, service and professional outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability for the effective and contemporary utilization of Mental Health Service and nursing resources
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills and competent in the use of relevant electronic information systems
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to travel within the LHD in accordance with the position and service requirements
