About the Role


The Claims Team Leader is responsible for providing operational support to front line staff and managers to ensure management of the Claims function delivers operational requirements.

This role will be responsible for leading the Claims team to ensure business objectives are achieved relating to the management of Claiming against the DES and WFA Grant Agreement.

This includes developing strong working relationships with the management team to execute revenue generating activities, process improvement and issue resolution for complex claims matters.

The role will provide mentoring and training to staff to build knowledge and capacity, along with supporting the management team with training and support to the business.

The role also plays a key role in both internal and external audits.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Leadership of the Claims team to ensure operational objectives are achieved
  • Claims processing efficiency and accuracy to ensure a high level of compliance
  • Developing strong working relationships with the management team to execute revenue generating activities
  • Drives process improvement initiatives to improve processing and efficiency
  • Leads issue resolution for complex placement and claims matters with the PPS, Claims and operations teams
  • Provides mentoring and training to staff to build knowledge and capacity
  • Plays a key role in driving best practise to improve the Claims functions
  • Supports the management team with training and support to the business.
  • Supports internal and external audits, providing information and documentary evidence for submission.
  • Regular reporting to management on business performance and issue identification.

Skills and Experiences:

About You

  • Previous experience working in claims for employment services
  • High level of written, listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create, maintain and build positive relationships, with employees, external customers and with other stakeholders
  • The ability to lead a team and work in a team environment to collaboratively achieve outcomes
  • Effective and efficient time management and organisational skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, resilience, reliability, empathy and openness.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy and data base management.
  • Sound technical knowledge of the employment services industry, especially compliance obligations
  • Ability to work with people from all age and cultural backgrounds, particularly people with injury, disabilities and longterm unemployment conditions.
  • High level knowledge of the Employment Services Contractual Framework
  • Project Management skills
  • A team player
  • Valid driver's license
