Be challenged and imagine with us:

As the Technical Officer (Surveying), you will use your expert surveying knowledge to provide technical support to undergraduate students studying within the disciplines of Civil, Surveying, and Environmental Engineering.


In this role you will:

  • Deliver highlevel technical advice and support to staff and students within the College.
  • Provide operating expertise for a range of technical equipment, software, and facilities.
  • Consult and collaborate with academics and other technical staff on course and class requirements.
  • This continuing position is full time and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land)._

  • Demonstrated experience providing technical support in a laboratory environment and knowledge of safe laboratory practices.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to work to competing deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to build effective working relationships with staff and students.

What we offer:

The remuneration for this position is from $71,298 to $82, % superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.

  • A statement addressing the Essential Criteria listed below
  • Completion of a degree in surveying without subsequent relevant work experience; or completion of an associate diploma and at least 2 years subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge of current surveying technologies, databases, software and data management.
  • Demonstrated experience in a technical support role and experience with equipment relevant to surveying, environmental science, and remote sensing such as drones, GPS, terrestrial laser scanners, surveying equipment and other remote sensing instruments.
  • Demonstrated experience assisting a diverse range of stakeholders with the setup, operation and training in equipment and materials in a workshop/lab/field work or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for facilities/equipment, including WHS compliance and legislation such as implementing risk management strategies to ensure staff and student needs are safely met.
  • Current driver's licence for manual transmission vehicles.
