***Assist the Restaurant Manager with the daily operation of the venue, ensuring maximum guest satisfaction and profit contribution.

The Supervisor will be required to conduct their duties in a courteous, safe and efficient manner, in accordance with the hotel's policies and procedures, ensuring that a high level of service is maintained.


  • Responsible for coordinating the work of the Food and Beverage Attendants in an efficient manner, whilst maintaining quality and standards.
  • Have a full knowledge of the outlet operations and roles therein.
  • Ensure all food and beverage items served to our guests are of the highest standard and presentation. Be attentive in checking quality of food and quality of beverage.
  • Understand and supervise opening and closing procedures including a thorough knowledge of the Point of Sale System.
  • Ensure cleanliness of bar, tables, chairs, floor and general equipment. In liaison with Restaurant Manager, ensure sufficient equipment for the operation of the venue.
  • Assign staff to their stations and inform of any special request such as VIP guest or returning guests.
  • Ensure linen exchange procedure is followed and all care is taken with linen.
  • Ensure all back of house areas are cleaned and equipment stocked.
  • Handle customer concerns and complaints with a concerning and understanding attitude as per Hotel standard.
  • Conduct preservice briefings with staff.
  • Ensure all furniture and fittings, operating equipment and outlet décor are maintained and clean at all times.
  • Communicate all comments and feedback from guests and staff to the Restaurant Manager.
  • Ensure sales are maximised through suggestive upselling.
  • Assist with development and performance reviews.
  • Assist the Restaurant Manager with the initial and ongoing "On the Job" Training to ensure that associates have the necessary skills to perform their job efficiently and effectively.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Implement opportunities for quality Team Building.
  • Ensure that all associates comply with the grooming and uniform standards.
  • Assist in preparation of work rosters and annual leave schedules within budget, business expectations and guidelines of the Enterprise Agreement.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial knowledge, controls, inventory, costs, expenses, and all cash handling procedures and policies.
  • Assist in the selection and appointment of new associates within the department.
  • Ensure all Liquor Licensing Laws are abided by and understand the correct procedures for handling intoxicated and underage guests.
  • Personally ensure compliance with all relevant Workplace Health & Safety and Occupational Health & Safety legislation, and related The Westin Melbourne and Marriott Policies.
  • Undertake other duties as required by Restaurant Manager / Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Anticipate guest's needs through observation and offer prompt, efficient service either personally or through effective communication with other associates.
  • Align working practices and conduct with The Westin Melbourne's Vision; consistently strive to meet and exceed the expectations of both internal and external guests.
