Key Accountabilities
Operational Functions
- Use Agile and Lean practices to drive our way of working;
- Drive automation and selfservice ;
- Build the team's capability though continuous knowledge sharing;
- Provide support to assist in the resolution of incidents;
- Identify and report operational risks to Delivery Manager;
- Provide robust tools and platforms to support our customers;
- Continuously improve the monitoring of the team's platforms;
- Create and maintain relevant documentation including Standard Operating Procedures for all platforms and processes;
- Highlight technology incident trends for root cause investigation;
- Participate in platform maintenance and platform upgrades;
- Perform oncall support duties as required;
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of disaster recovery and availability plans;
- Participate in disaster recovery test activities;
- Ensure compliance to corporate and BT governance standards and escalate potential breaches to the Delivery Manager; and
- Adhere to Change Management processes.
Strategy
- Keep uptodate with the latest technology trends;
- Proactively identify and create proposals for technology improvements;
- Contribute to the development and implementation of technology strategies and roadmaps;
- Represent the relevant technology/platform within internal and external technology communities;
- Liaise with vendors and technology specialists on new technologies; and
- Identify opportunities to optimise the Total Cost of Ownership of the team's assets.
Planning Functions
- Assist in creating technology roadmaps and a pipeline of work aligned to it;
- Provide input into workload and resource planning and estimation activities;
- Participate in the ongoing capacity planning and management of the team's platforms; and
Key Capabilities
Essential Experience
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016/2019 experience
- Knowledge of Windows Server Environments
- Scripting: TSQL
- Extensive use of Failover Clustering\Database Mirroring\Always On Availability Groups
- Knowledge of Storage Subsystems (NetApp)
- SQL Build Experience
- SQL Licensing Experience
Desirable Experience
- Powershell / Automation
- Knowledge of Storage Subsystems (Nimble)
- Commvault Experience
- Foglight Experience
- AWS EC2 and RDS Experience
- Extensive GPO and Active Directory Experience
- Policy Management
- Analysis Services
