ABOUT THE ROLE

A DEEPER DIVE INTO WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • The team will look to you for certainty to confirm that our facilities are meeting the business' needs and requirements. Due to the nature of our work, this will require a good working knowledge of Defence security principles.
  • Our team has a diverse set of requirements, so you will be working to ensure that we have sufficient workspaces, storage, control of waste management and fixed assets. You will also be working with the technical team to support the establishment and maintenance of workshop, test, and production facilities.
  • You will be the point of contact to coordinate and respond to all routine and adhoc maintenance needs.
  • In your role you will report on agreed metrics related to facilities and security, and provide updates against projects and planned activities.
  • You will create and maintain plans and procedures covering facility security, risk assessments and business continuity plans for facilities.
  • As the Security Officer you will lead with a security mindset and create a culture where security is prioritised and respected. Your duties will vary from managing security clearances and maintaining the security register through to drafting, maintenance and communication of policies and procedures.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

WHAT YOU NEED

Essential

  • Australian citizen with ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Significant demonstrated experience in facilities management
  • Significant demonstrated experience in security management
  • Experience in business continuity and risk/hazard management
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and execution of project plans
  • Demonstrated experience in the drafting and maintenance of policies and procedures
  • Collaborative and pragmatic working style, inclusive in making decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills
  • Defence experience or other highly regulated industry

Desirable

  • Recognised qualification in facilities and/or security management
  • Previously held position of Security Officer in Defence or Defence Industry
  • Experience working within DISP company
  • Prior experience in a multisite environment, including remote sites
  • Current NV1 security clearance (or above)
