- Proactively advise on legal aspects of matters arising including simple and complex contract negotiations, vendor management, dispute resolution and regulator interaction
- Assist with managing the allocation of resources and skills between internal resources and external counsel and ongoing management of those resources to ensure consistent, cost-effective legal support
- Drive continual improvement in Legal and Governance by designing tools (such as precedents), adopting new technology and adapting current processes and policies, with particular attention to reducing cost and simplification.
- Design and deliver training to business unit colleagues to build their knowledge and capability and reduce their reliance on Legal & Governance for lower risk or routine matters.
- Work on new projects (the team is currently supporting the Tallawarra B OCGT plant; the Wooreen Battery Project; the Lake Lyell PHES Project; and the Mount Piper Battery Project, to name a few)
- Involvement in Design Supply and Install Contracts, Maintenance Contracts, Services Contracts, Works Contracts
- Innovative offtake arrangements, including Energy Storage Services Agreements, Battery Storage Services Agreements, as well as Power Purchase Agreements (electricity and environmental products)
- You will have a degree in Law as well as a current practicing certificate and relevant post-qualification legal experience with a reputable Australian law firm or large corporate (minimum 3 years experience)
- Previous experience providing advice on some of the areas described above. You will have a can-do attitude and be keen to develop your capabilities across the energy sector.
- Present with strong and effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
