We are currently looking for an experienced Workshop Supervisor, a people manager to lead our team of Mechanical Trades, to deliver the best servicing and maintenance programme to our Transport Fleet.

THE ROLE
The position's primary purpose is to ensure a smooth and efficient execution of the workshop servicing and maintenance program.

This role is for an experienced Foreman, leading hand or supervisor who possesses strong people management, communication and organisational skills with a willingness to accept responsibility and accountability for the rosters, schedules, planning of work orders and jobs across the workshops, using your previous skills ,knowledge and experience to upskill and up skill the workshop staff.

Ideally suited for someone who has successfully managed a logistics workshop involving a fleet of both rigid, articulated vehicles and trailing equipment, with a passion for safety and customer service

  • Coordination of maintenance, servicing, and repairs of the fleet and trailing equipment.
  • Overseeing the workshop staff daily and ensure the work completed by the staff meet the company standards.
  • Training and upskilling workshop staff.
  • Facilitation of work plans and job orders with the mechanics, delegation of tasks.
  • Assisting and diagnosing faults with workshop staff.
  • Ensure prompt repairs by responding to emergency breakdowns.
  • Manage the service levels and performance of all contracted Repair & Maintenance service providers.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for the service of the equipment.
  • Manage workforce in accordance to the work schedule and weekend/weekday roster.
  • View daily defects sheet, define problem, determine urgency and allocate work accordingly.

Applicant Requirements
To be considered and successful in this role, it is essential applicants have:


  • Essential proven and demonstratable people management, leadership and team development experience

  • Trade Qualification Certificate in Diesel Mechanics.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum 35 years transport/Prime Mover/Rigid mechanical experience.
  • Proficiency in general mechanics and vehicle maintenance including trailing equipment.
  • Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy, MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook.
  • Ability to handle pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Possess a flexible and adaptable attitude.
  • Strong commitment to all safety policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
  • MC Driver's License preferred, C class Minimum to be considered.
