The Older Persons Mental Health Service is looking for a Nurse Consultant to join their diverse and dynamic team.

  • Older Persons Mental Health Services_ (OPMHS) aims to maximise older people's mental health by working within the local community and healthcare sectors to prevent and address mental health issues prioritising early intervention and specialised inpatient services. About the Role:

As a
Nurse Consultant for Older Persons Mental Health Services, Rapid Access Service, you will:

  • Streamline new referrals and coordinate OPMHS Rapid Access and Liaison Services, improving access to mental health care for older adults in Southern Adelaide through agency collaboration.
  • Merge contemporary information with personal expertise to support innovative decisionmaking and objective analysis, enhancing nursing/midwifery care.
  • Provide direct clinical nursing/midwifery care, implement therapies, and manage individual cases for older adult patients, continually assessing progress.
  • Work with clinical teams, offering expert nursing/midwifery assessment and advice to ensure integrated care within a risk management framework.
To be
successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in the field of older persons' mental health services,
  • Exceptional clinical skills and the ability to make independent clinical decisions,
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams,
  • A commitment to evidencebased practice and continuous professional development.


To be considered for this role, you must be registered or eligible for registration as an Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

You must also be enrolled in or hold a qualification in Mental Health practices. For full details, please see the attached Role Description.
